I've been looking for Data Center material that could help me getting in touch with these technologies for such a long time. I've always felt the DC world was too advanced for me because of the distinct protocols and the lack of readings for beginners. This book takes us from VLANs to Cloud Computing in an engaging and logical way. I especially enjoyed the "evolution" chapters because of the vendor-independent concepts concerning networking, storage, and server technologies. Great read!

I keep a list of "recommended reading" books to give to clients and students. Someone pointed me to this book and said it should be on my list, so I bought a copy. Within just a few chapters I knew this one would be near the top of my list. Santana explains the fundamentals in a clear, well-organized, personable, and often funny style.
