Sometimes you just have to let go of reality and revel in the cheese factor. If you can roll with a bit of flowery language, insta-love, and emotionally curable impotence, this is actually a pretty enjoyable book. Wulfe Untamed is the eighth and final chapter of Pamela Palmer’s Feral Warriors series, and it features the scarred, tortured wolf shifter named, er, Wulfe. He’s been mooning over a human named Natalie for a few books now, but he doesn’t even consider the possibility that she could ever be his. After all, she has a fiancé. He considers himself hideous. And the broken mating bond from his late wife has left him without sexual desire.
Frankly, the deck is stacked against them. But Wulfe worries for her safety. She was, after all, the survivor of a mage attack. Now he visits her in his wolf form to watch over her. It’s a good thing, too, because she does end up targeted again. The resulting battle opens her eyes to who he really is and forces her back to stay with the Feral Warriors as they keep her hidden.
In the meantime, the warriors are losing their immortality and their ability to shift. Bad things are coming. Only Wulfe has a chance to figure it all out, thanks to a little bit of bad guy in his genetic makeup. But will he be able to fight the evil growing within him? (Dum. Dum. DUM!!!)
It’s all a bit over the top, but the whole series is this way. Natalie is in love with Wulfe in (literally) one day in his company. His problems with physical intimacy virtually evaporate when it’s convenient to the storyline (and with a conversation using the word “woody” way too many time for a bunch of dudes who are centuries old.) And we are treated to language like “He tasted like summer rain and winter forests.” What does that even mean??
