But someone is always chasing poor Raccoon away from his favorite food with a broom! What's a hungry raccoon to do? Plan an elaborate secret pizza party, of course! But shhh! It’s a secret! In fact, you should probably just forget I told you. Nope, no secret pizza party happening here. You didn’t already tell all your friends, did you? Uh oh...

This is a seriously funny book. The author does a great job of showing us how crucial a good pizza is to the main character, a raccoon - super high stakes! Then comes the dreaded broom to swat him away. And to make matters worse, this pizza-loving raccoon lives in a town with a broom factory and a Broom Enthusiasts Club. I love the long, loopy arms and legs of the humans and the loose watercolor style of the illustrations. Great expressions and imagination throughout. This book is not only funny, but it's a great story with a hilarious outcome. Any kid who loves a good laugh will enjoy SECRET PIZZA PARTY!

Salmieri's illustrations remind me of the best of Gary Larson's work: simultaneously cutting-edge, bordering on satire, and infused with a refreshing boyish sincerity. Rubin's text is, as with his work on the Squirrels books and Dragons Love Tacos, snarky and smart, and witty and imaginative without ever insulting a child's aptitude or sense of wonder. My nephew absolutely loves this book, as he's loved all their previous work. Honestly can't recommend them highly enough. Rubin/Salmieri books are like the Disney's Fantasias of the children's genre in that they work on numerous levels, all of which are fun, whimsical and even inspirational. I really can't say enough good things. Buy this book!!!
