I have read a lot about psychology and from that perspective find that there are two major errors in this book that make it dangerous to put in the hands of your girls (I won't put it in the hands of my girls). This book can have a wrong psychological impact on tender young minds.
1) The book confuses high vs low self-esteem with extroversion vs introversion. The book is tending to equate high self-esteem with extroversion and low self-esteem with introversion. E.g. the self-assessment questionnaire provided in the book has some questions that determine the level of intro-extro-version, not self-esteem. For instance, one question asks that on a Friday afternoon what would you be thinking about doing over the weekend - hang out by yourself, or ask the new girl next-door to come over and watch a movie with you. This question clearly lies along the intro-extro-version axis and not the self-esteem axis, which is an independent dimension. An introvert will tend to prefer to hang out by oneself but can hang out with oneself in self-esteem, while an extrovert will prefer to spend time with friends, yet still might be suffering from low self-esteem. Introversion and extroversion are two perfectly healthy aspects of human personality. About 40% of humans are introverts, and they are perfectly normal and healthy. I find this book dangerous because it will make introverts feel inferior. There are numerous books that talk in detail about introversion and extroversion. Here are a two - "Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking," a recent book by Susan Cain and "Please understand me II" by David Keirsey (These books are for adults, not children, particularly the latter one which is deep in psychological details.
